In the past few decades, Sumatra’s lowland forests have shrunk dramatically. In 2006, theRSPB launched a fundraising campaign – Save the Sumatran Rainforest – to fund a massive project to restore and protect 110,000 hectares of the lowland rainforest.
We were asked to design and produce the content for a DVD to be sent to their members, which includes photos, infographics, animation and audio.
The campaign has been hugely successful and in 2010 a massive multi-year grant to support tree planting and local community work was approved.
“The guys at TM were very flexible and understanding. They delivered a great product on time, the supporters loved it and we went on to make a little bit of conservation history. Well done and thanks Taylor McKenzie.”

The effects for this film were created in After Effects and Softimage. One sequence included CG fire and smoke created using ParticleIllusion, a natural effects generator. Extensive work was done on sourced rainforest images to create the opening shot of the camera falling through the clouds into the forest.
